christmas Daddies
In 2006 Christmas Daddies officially launched its new website www.christmasdaddies.org in preparation for its annual Telethon. The new website was made possible by Nicom IT Solutions, which donated the technology and services to allow for more comprehensive features and simpler navigation.
"It was a special project for us" says Pat d'Entremont, Partner at Nicom IT Solutions, "It means a lot to be able to give back to an organization that does so much for our Maritime community."
New features on the site include a photo gallery of favourite Telethon memories, a news and events page that lists Christmas Daddies fundraisers, and an overview of the auction items up for bid. Donations are processed and secured by Skipjack Financial.
The Christmas Daddies Telethon began in 1964 when a group of station employees felt compelled to raise money for a desperate child they found begging in a local drinking establishment. That first Telethon raised $1,500. Since then, Christmas Daddies has raised more than $24 million.
canadian information processing society (CIPS)
Nicom IT Solutions maintains the website for the Bluenose Chapter of the Canadian Information Processing Society, and has done so ever since the very early days of the World Wide Web. We keep track of events and online promotions—via email and the Internet—of interest to the IT community in Nova Scotia.
Nicom also does promotions for other local organizations, notably the Project Management Institute (PMI) and The Information Technology Industry Alliance of Nova Scotia (ITANS). Nicom IT Solutions is a member of ITANS, and its senior management employees are members of CIPS and PMI.
